Filip was born and raised in Čačak, Serbia. He finished his undergraduate and master studies at Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. For his BSc and MSc thesis he worked in the field of heterocyclic chemistry and organometallic catalysis in the group of Prof. Igor Opsenica. He joined Schoenebeck group in November 2020.
